At a time when most of the population is under stay-at-home or shelter-in-place orders, this program has helped many businesses retain their employees while complying with state and local requirements. Yes, there definitely were some growing pains when the program first went active, but what we hear from the roughly 20,000 businesses who have benefited from this program in Alabama is that the program is working.

To add to this, the CARES Act that Congress passed last week is in effect, but questions have come up about how this will actually work for individuals, families, and small businesses.

Representative Robert Aderholt (AL-04) today announced changes to the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, which has resulted in all schools being closed, this year's art competition has been modified for the safety of our students, teachers and special guests who normally attend.

Our country is going through the worst public health crisis since the flu pandemic of 1918. The Coronavirus impact is unprecedented, and as we navigate these unchartered waters it's critical that serious, thoughtful solutions are put forward. That is why I voted in favor of the Phase 3 stimulus package today, known as the CARES Act. Although this $2 trillion bill is not perfect, I believe it is necessary as it provides vital funding for Alabama and the entire nation.
