Congressman Aderholt Introduces House Bill to Stop Federal Dollars from Going to Planned Parenthood

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) introduced the “Protect Funding for Women’s Health Care Act” in the House of Representatives. This is companion legislation to S. 13, introduced by Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa. This bill would prohibit federal funding from going to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, or to any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, successors, or clinics. Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States, receives over $670 million in taxpayer funding annually, according to the 2021-2022 Planned Parenthood Annual Report.
“This bill reflects the will of the American people,” said Congressman Aderholt. “It is important that funding intended to support the health, safety, and well-being of women is not instead funding the killing of unborn babies or the pursuit of a radical agenda.”
“This bill additionally ensures that the funding is redirected back to important health services for women such as cancer screenings, prenatal and postnatal care, immunizations, and other eligible services.
“The radical Left, led by the Biden Administration, cannot keep ignoring the sanctity of life and crusading against our most vulnerable: the unborn. I am proud to join my colleagues in protecting the right to life and in stopping the use of federal tax dollars in funding such heinous organizations.”
“In this year’s Labor, Health & Human Services, and Education appropriations bill, I have included a provision which prohibits taxpayer dollars going to Planned Parenthood in annual appropriations funding. The Protect Funding for Women’s Health Care Act goes a step further to ensure that mandatory spending is protected as well.”
This legislation is supported by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Americans United for Life, Students for Life Action; Heritage Action; and March for Life Action
