Military Service Academy Nominations

As a Member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating outstanding young men and women from Alabama’s Fourth Congressional District to four of our nation’s service academies: the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy.

Please note that the United States Coast Guard Academy does not require a Congressional nomination. Applicants must apply directly through the Academy’s Office of Admissions.

In addition to assisting students seeking a nomination to a U.S. Service Academy, my office also supports applicants interested in attending Marion Military Institute (MMI) in Marion, Alabama. MMI is one of the nation’s premier military junior colleges and offers several pathways to military service, including the Early Commissioning Program (ECP). This program allows qualified students to become commissioned Army officers in just two years. Benefits may include full-tuition scholarships, book allowances, monthly stipends, and opportunities to serve in the Army National Guard or Army Reserve while completing your degree.

Students interested in attending a service academy or MMI should begin the application process in the spring of their junior year of high school.

To request assistance, please complete the Service Academy/MMI Application Form. Once your application is received, my office will review it and contact you if additional information is needed. Service academy nominations are made in January of your senior year, and the academies typically announce appointments by the following June. The deadline to submit your application to my office is December 1.
