WASHINGTON -- Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard said his two-day swing through Washington, D.C., this week was prompted by an invitation to a partisan conference on business, but he expanded his trip to promote his book on the Republican takeover of the Alabama Legislature.

TheMilitary Construction-VA bill will go first and is likely to move quicklythrough the open amendment process.
