A long-term lease of a mothballed Kennedy Space Center launch pad may still be near, NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden suggested Wednesday.
At least one company and some members of Congress have asked NASA not to award a single company exclusive use of pad 39A, saying it should be made available to multiple launchers.
Local plant announces expansion, creation of 245 new jobs

Innovative Hearth Products, the parent company of the Russellville FMI plant officially announced Thursday that they will be expanding the local manufacturing plant and adding close to 250 new jobs.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the plant on Lawrence Street, in the former H.D. Lee building, at 2 p.m. Friday.

WASHINGTON — Two members of the House Appropriations subcommittee that funds NASA, including the chairman, are concerned that the agency might lease out an old space shuttle launch pad at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on an exclusive basis.
