Protecting the Vulnerable

I am focused on protecting the truly vulnerable.  For me, that starts with standing up for the unborn. I want to see the day when there is not a single abortion in this nation because there are no unwanted children. We need to protect the unborn, but we also need greater support for those willing to adopt and foster. That’s why I’m the Co-Chair of the Congressional Adoption Caucus.  Every child’s life should be celebrated.  We all need to support our churches and organizations that are dedicated to protecting and nurturing the lives of our nation’s children.

Sadly, we are at a time in history where we have an epidemic of child abuse, exploitation, and trafficking -- particularly of young girls. Having a young daughter that is now in college, this breaks my heart.

Let me be clear – a just nation cannot tolerate what is happening to so many of our children.  I WILL use my power in Congress to fight these abuses by directing our nation’s agencies and the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute those who profit from exploiting our children.  One of my missions is to persuade President Trump to mobilize all necessary resources to combat this problem. I will not stop until we end this plague on our society.

Another important group that needs protection are those seeking to worship God in peace, but they live in nations where they are brutally repressed.

Christians are the most persecuted group around the world, with persecution found in 143 counties, primarily in North Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. But it’s not just Christians.  China is cracking down on many religions because they don’t want anything to be more important than the Communist Party.

My office is working to support freedom of religion around the world.  And I want to use my position to punish those nations who are engaged in religious persecution.
