TEA Party will be big event
By Mary Anne Cole | TJ Times-Journal | June 6, 2012

Editor,

There is a great deal of excitement as we anticipate the DeKalb County TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party at Fort Payne City Park on Saturday.

We are pleased that the Fort Payne High School Band will perform from 11:30 to noon. They have a tremendous rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and other patriotic music. Hunter Wright will sing the national anthem; then come the pledge and prayer by Pastor Roger Graham.

Dean Mitchell will sing an original composition, “Down The Road There’s a Hero,” as we recognize our military, both active and retired.

Bill Patton the last surviving World War II prisoner of war, will speak.

Mayor Bill Jordan will welcome Gov. Robert Bentley to Fort Payne, after which state Sen. Shadrack McGill will introduce the governor.

This will be Bentley’s first visit to the city since being elected, although he has been in DeKalb County at the sites ravaged by the tornadoes. He will be our keynote speaker.

Other speakers are Elois Zeanah, a state activist from Tuscaloosa, and Lester Phillips, a businessman from Huntsville.

Brother Willie Dryer will close in prayer.

State Rep. Todd Greeson and U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt have been invited.

Our purpose is to turn our nation back to God and love of country, and also stop the reckless spending so our children and grandchildren’s future will not be jeopardized.

We desire to bring back constitutional government as we distribute copies provided by Congressman Aderholt.

We invite disillusioned Democrats, irate independents and rapacious Republicans; after all we are one nation under God, which we sometimes seem to forget. Bring a lawn chair and, if you wish, a sign expressing your sentiments.

Radio station WFPA will broadcast the event live with owner Michael Wallace as master of ceremonies.
