Congressman Robert Aderholt Rural Healthcare Discussion with Dr. Mehmet Oz

Congressman Aderholt, Chairman of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, recently had the pleasure to sit down with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. 

The conversation was about the work being done to improve healthcare. Issues like rural access and lowering prescription drug prices have major effects, especially in states like Alabama. 

Thanks to President Trump and the Rural Health Transformation Program, Alabama is receiving $203 million to invest in new ways to bring better care closer to home. That means strengthening the rural health care workforce, expanding access to specialists and telehealth, using new technology to better connect patients and providers, and helping people stay healthy before they ever need a hospital. For families across rural Alabama, this is about more than investing in health care. It’s about making sure people can get the care they need, when they need it, closer to the place they call home.
