Congressman Aderholt Statement on the United States Department of Justice Sending Subpoena to the Eagle Forum of Alabama
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04), released the following the statement in regard to news that the United States Department of Justice has sent a subpoena to the Eagle Forum of Alabama. This subpoena is in regard to the group’s support of the Alabama Vulnerable Child Compassion And Protection Act which passed this year in the Alabama Legislature.
“I am deeply concerned with the news that President Biden's Department of Justice has subpoenaed Eagle Forum of Alabama, a non-profit organization, to turn over its communications related to the development of legislative text. As Americans, we are protected by the First Amendment with the right to petition the government. This action by the U.S. Government is a blatant attempt to intimidate citizens from participating in the legislative process, and I believe the court should accordingly quash the subpoena.”
