Congressman Aderholt Congratulates Tom Cole on Steering Committee Selection as Next Appropriations Chairman

WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) released the following statement to congratulate Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) after he was chosen by the Republican Steering Committee to be the next Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.
“Congratulations to Congressman Tom Cole for being chosen by the GOP Steering Committee to lead the House Committee on Appropriations. I know that Tom will do a great job. He is very capable, and I look forward to working with him to ensure his success.
“Some may ask, why didn’t I throw my hat in the ring? Well, with the current majority being razor thin, and where we are as a Conference, for the overall good, now was not the time for a race. However, I do want to be an agent for change in the way we do the appropriations process. Furthermore, I have used this time to put my ideas out there for us to study. Tom has been gracious and open to considering those changes and my ideas.
“I know that all of the Republicans on the Appropriations Committee want to deliver for the American people and ensure that their tax dollars are being used in a responsible, non-controversial way. And we are all ready to get started on FY 25.”
