Congressman Aderholt Announces Grants for Education Advancement

August 3, 2023

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Aderholt announced grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for advanced education programs and facilities in north Alabama.

“I am pleased to announce an ARC grant to Gadsden State Community College in the amount of $226,468 for the Growing the Federation of Manufacturing Education (FAME) project,” said Aderholt.

“Additionally, Wild Alabama in Moulton, Ala. will receive an ARC grant for $25,000 to contribute to the Wild Alabama Educational Facility Design.”

The FAME apprenticeship program aims to help supply employees to manufacturers as companies begin to face new retirements. Participants of the program will receive both college and on-the-job training in preparation to enter the workforce and support north Alabama’s manufacturers.

Wild Alabama, in partnership with a procured architect, seeks to complete a schematic design plan and feasibility study, allowing the organization to move forward with a capital campaign to fundraise for the building of a new educational facility. Once complete, the new education center will be a multi-use teaching, gathering, operational, and office space designed to further the mission of Wild Alabama.

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is an economic development agency of the federal government and 13 state governments focusing on 423 counties across the Appalachian region. ARC's mission is to innovate, partner, and invest to build community capacity, strengthen economic growth in Appalachia, and help the region achieve socioeconomic parity with the nation.
