Aderholt Announces $28,284 Grant from the Department of Justice for the City of Gadsden

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) today announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program will award the City of Gadsden $28,284 for the purchase of law enforcement equipment.

“This grant from the Department of Justice is great news for Gadsden and surrounding communities,” said Aderholt. “This law enforcement equipment that will be purchased with these grant funds will help emergency response personnel continue to support the safety and security of our area.”

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions. Grant funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice.

Aderholt currently serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Homeland Security for the powerful House Appropriations Committee, is a member of the Committee’s Commerce, Justice and Science; and Agriculture Subcommittees, and also serves on the Helsinki Commission.
