Brooks, Aderholt get chamber awards
Times-Daily | August 19, 2012

Congressmen Mo Brooks and Robert Aderholt have been presented "Spirit of Enterprise" awards by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

They were officially presented their awards Friday in a ceremony held by the Shoals Chamber of Commerce.

The award recognizes a legislator's work to promote American business and economic opportunity.

Brooks, R-Huntsville, and Aderholt, R-Haleyville, were judged based on their votes during 2011 involving what chamber officials describe as key business issues as outlined in the national organization's yearly publication — How They Voted. Only legislators who support the chamber's position on at least 70 percent of those issues qualify for the award.

"Spirit of Enterprise" awards have been given for 22 years.

Brooks represents the Shoals among other north Alabama counties. Aderholt represents Franklin, Lawrence and other counties in the region. Aderholt's district will include Colbert County beginning in 2013, a change brought by congressional redistricting.
